I started a shoeshine business in 1994 at Leadenhall Market, in the traditional City of London financial district. We originally used the old fashioned shine-box method where the customer would stand and raise his foot on to the footplate and have each shoe shined separately.
In 1998 we moved to the new financial district of London at Canary Wharf. We decided we had to change our shoeshine method in order to attract more business and opportunities. We built 4 American style shoeshine units to service the 100,000 people that daily work inside the area, and a new global marketing opportunity was born…….
During this time we started our hugely popular Event Support Service. Major companies and brands hire our unique shoeshine chairs to attract attention and potential clients with a “free” shoeshine. Once the person is sitting in the shoeshine chair for a 15 minute shoeshine, an opportunity is created to inform the person about our clients products, services or new ranges to a “captive” audience! We can also use the same method to collect data or to simply provide a service for our client that creates a feel good factor. We have taken our services to many countries in North America and Europe. Our client list includes Prada, Alfred Dunhill, Saphir, Ted Baker, Louboutin, Bally of Switzerland, Mr Porter, Berluti, Church’s Shoes, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Soccerex and many, many more high end companies.
We returned to the City of London in 2011 to provide our static shoeshine services to iconic skyscrapers Tower 42, Heron Tower, Citypoint and now The Shard. We also provide mobile shoeshiners to serviced business centres like Business Environment (BE Offices), who hire us to offer free shines to their tenants in various locations around London.
Over the years I have met many people who are suppliers of the finest luxury products supplied to both gentlemen and ladies around the world. At London Shoeshine we now have many of these products on our online shop.
